I wasn’t born to see how all of those 5 stars appeared in our uniform. From the first 3 stars I hear stories. My grandparents, my mother, my father, my uncles, my aunts… Everyone has a different way to tell me how that happened, who was the best player, against who we played, how they celebrated that Cup. Even though, I learnt to love and to name every single player, from the goalkeeper to the captain, even the couch. Saddly, I didn’t see Pele, Didi, Zagallo, Carlos Alberto, Garrincha, Nilton Santos, Gilmar, Vava, Zito, Pepe, Jairzinho, Tostão, Rivelino, Gérson and so many others players. But I cry everytime I see a video or a single picture. Not only my family, but other brazilians taught me how to love people who made good things for us. We never had a ‘peace’ moment in our country, but our National Team always found a way to put a smile on us. Who doesn’t know the song “70 milhões em ação, pra frente, Brasil do meu coração! Vamos juntos, vamos! Pra frente, Brasil! Salve a Seleção!”? I know the names of the 1982 generation and I see in the eyes of my father how painful was losing that World Cup; it hurts on me. Born on the ‘90 decade, I was gifted with the pleasure to be the Champion for twice. Can any brazilian forget Bebeto e Romário? Can any of us forget what happened in 1998? Anyway, can you remember what was happening in the moment that Cafu hold high the Cup in 2002? Everyone had a friend with the Ronaldo’s hair do. We have 100 years of history built on victories and, of course, defeats ‘cause we can only learn when we suffer. Around this world I bet everyone knows our bright yellow t-shirt. We were waiting for this moment, to win in our own place, but if it won’t happen, it doesn’t mean our whole history will be erased. Our idols are not soldiers because we haven’t been a real part of any great war, our idols wear a national team uniform and defend our flag. Their souls are and will be always clinged in our uniform, they didn’t give up, they also cried, they were/are brazilians just like us. It hurts now and nobody will never forget. But like says the song "Engue essa cabeça, mete o pé e vai na fé, mande essa tristeza embora. Pode acreditar que um novo dia vai raiar, sua hora vai chegar". People think we are crazy to care about such a foolish thing, but we know deep inside it’s not a stupid thing at all: it’s what makes our days a little bit better. And we’ll be here with our AMARELINHA, as always. WE ARE BRAZILIANS AND WE NEVER GIVE UP!
